Only what your family may need to keep their needs met! A bottle of water and snack are always a good idea. If you have any favourite fidget toys that help you or your child maintain focus then they're very welcome to bring those along. If you've ordered a Learning Pack for the session, I'll be bringing that along with me. If there's anything you'd like to check is okay to bring, please send me a message before the start of session.
A: After a warm welcome and a chance for everyone to settle in, we begin with “Zoo News” - ten minutes for the children to share something animal-related from their week. This could be a fact they’ve learnt, an animal they’ve spotted or even a trip to a zoo, sanctuary or nature reserve they’d like to tell us about. It’s their chance to shine, and it always brings out fascinating conversations and wonderful stories.
From there, we move into the week’s main lesson. Using the projector screen, I share images, information and stories that bring our topic to life. The session is interactive throughout, with plenty of discussion points and quick quizzes to keep everyone engaged and thinking.
We then weave in activities to match the theme. Sometimes we pause midway for a smaller activity before returning to the lesson; other times we dedicate the second half of the session to one larger activity, such as a craft, game, creative writing task or hands-on project.
Above all, it’s important to me that children feel comfortable and supported. Snacks and drinks are absolutely fine (so long as they’re not distracting), and families are always welcome to step out for a break, use the toilets or get some fresh air whenever needed.
We usually finish with a chance to reflect or share what we’ve learned, before many families head outside to the play park and field right next to the venue for some relaxed play and a friendly chat.
A: Any age over 5 years! And yes, that might seem incredibly broad but I plan all my lessons to be as accessible as possible. I don't follow a scheduled curriculum, so some sessions may feel more aligned with your family than others. This is because we are all so wonderfully different from each other! It's always my aims to pick topics I think most ages would be interested in and keep lessons as interactive and accessible as possible. If you'd like to know more about a specific lesson before booking on, please feel free to send a message and we can discuss it further and discover that it absolutely would be a fantastic fit for your family!
Yes please. I do ask that every child has an adult to supervise them for the duration of the lesson, whether this is a friend or family member is up to you. If your child would especially like you to be involved with them during the session, then you're very welcome to pull up a chair at the table by them and gets hands-on with the learning as well. Alternatively, for children happy to work independently, the room has plenty of chairs for you to sit back from them on.

I completely understand that life happens! If you need to cancel a booking, please let me know as soon as possible. I work with a 48 hour cancellation policy: if you notify me of your cancellation 48 hours before the session starts, I will refund you your place. Unfortunately, if a session is cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, the full session fee is still payable - this is just to cover the preparation time and resources I’ve set aside for your family. Thank you for your understanding!
Yes! If you purchase the £2 Learning Pack that every lesson (in-person or online) has, you'll find there are some extra activities for your child to have a go at, checking the answer sheet afterwards if they'd like, as well as a "zoology research challenge" for some more in-depth work to expand on what we covered as a group.
